Definition of PPE - (European Directive 89/686/EEC)

The term PPE stands for "Personal Protection Equipment", and covers any item intended for wearing or carrying by the worker with the aim of protecting him from one or more risks likely to cause injury or jeopardize health while at work, in addition to any item or accessory having the same purpose.

 

This download is a useful summary of how to identify garment requirements, relevant to different Industry end-uses. It gives indication on sizing and that manufacturers should certify that the PPE is designed and manufactured to have the essential health and safety requirements for its particular designated use.
